I know it sounds like a Katie Melua song but it's actually a reference to an ad for 'Hair Energizer' shampoo. Apparently 2 million bottles were sold in Germany so the insinuation was that it must work. All you had to do was apply it and leave it on for at least 2 minutes (which of course meant sitting in the bath till the water went cold in order to really get the benefit). By the write up on the bottle the main concern was not getting hairy palms, it was that good. But as I lay there letting it do its magic a few questions came to mind , 1 , was it 2 million seperate people who all bought it and then realised it was a load of crap and never purchased a second bottle. 2, was it one mad millionaire who bought the lot and filled his pool with the stuff in order to fulfill some twisted desire to look like a chimp. 3, if this was all it took to regrow or thicken the exsisting thatch then why is Bruce Willis bald. So there may be 2 million idiots in Berlin but there is also at least one in England. Anyway , to work. The big 12 foot fisherman for the Artsbank in Saltburn is finished and installed and now has a title 'A High Tide in Short Wellies'. I am really pleased with the piece and its positioning next to the gallery. It is going to be marketed to a lot of the coastal towns etc in the hope that his final resting place will allow him to look out over the sea. He should weather quite quickly in the salt air and his appearance will change considerably over the first couple of weeks. You can see an image of him and some ugly bloke in the 'Current Projects' section. I now have to prepare work for this years Chelsea Flower Show which I am again doing alongside Russ Hatton but this year we have the professional support of the Artsbank and we have been allocated a 'premier' spot so the pressure is on - again.
