Quite a bit has happened since the last blog. First off the Artsbank had a really good time at the affordable art fair a few weeks back and managed to sell all of the pieces of mine that they had with them plus one that they drafted in late so I was fairly chuffed with that and so were they. The Chelsea flower show starts this week and we are down there on friday. We are looking forward to it and have some nice fresh pieces on show there. The big fisherman has been getting a good reaction in Saltburn and the work on the next big figure is progressing well. I hope to post an image on the site soon, it is of an old man on a bench and is entitled 'Old Soldiers Never Die- But Plenty Young Ones Did'. As soon as that is done it is full steam ahead with the Derby miner project then after that it will be onto small works for the Gatehead art fair where we are being represented on Artsbanks stand and then more small work for the Edinburgh art fair which we are doing ourselves in November. A busy year to say the least but I am not complaining at all. There is to be a new brochure of work printed soon with the emphasis on promoting large scale works and from the initial meetings it should be a high quality item and will hopefully create the right impression for the potential clients. Away from art I have finally had my return to racing motocross. It was an absolute blast and although I was nowhere near the front I did better than than I thought and had some good battles. My youngest son was in the same races as me but I only saw him briefly as he shot past and disappeared into the distance (I need to work on my excuses for future events). We only got two races in due to the dust but I was still aching until thursday. Hey ho time and tide... Ray. |
